Posters

This poster is really bold as it uses bright yellow in it. This would have been a poster that she would have advertised herself with when playing her music to people so people would be more aware of her. I don't think this poster would work well in todays society because it isn't bold enough. I think to improve this poster it would need the artist in colour and it would need her to be wearing more makeup and it would need the male gaze in it.

This is more of a simpler poster but I think it works really well with the use of the colourscheme as it attracts both genders and it stands out. I think that the picture isn't very good because you can hardly see her face. I think that it needs a bolder image, but I think that the colour scheme works really well, however the font and where the writing is located needs to be emended because it looks slightly boring and doesn't catch my attention.

This poster is very abstract which I think works really well. The use of colours works well as it makes the guitar stand out and also the use of the patterns. I think that it looks more like a book rather than a poster though and it also needs a face on it rather than the guitar. I think that it does stand out because it looks good visually but it could be improved by having an easier font that is more visible and can be read easier.

I think that this poster is the best out of all of them because it has a very bold picture and all of the colour is very subtle which I think works well. I also think that the simple writing makes it look very effective and the lesser words makes it look much simpler and less cluttered. I think when making my poster I will use subtle colours because it fits well with the genre.

I've looked at some of Tracy Chapmans posters to see what sort of style she has in her posters because this way I can see her style visually rather than looking at music videos and this also helps me to see the genre better and the posters that she used when performing. Looking at the posters is going to help me to get a idea of the target market and genre. I think that for my poster that I am going to make I will make it more modernised and make it have a bold picture with good font which is readable. I will also make sure that it looks proffesional as some of these posters are old and they don't look as modern as ones that would get nowadays.
