Market Research - Results

We decided to do market research because it meant that we could get opinions of people who watch videos  regualrly so we can get an idea of what people like so that we can make a video which appeals to most people. Also we thought that market research would be a good idea because we can get ideas and inspiration of what to put into our video to make it stand out from other common videos.

From my 10 people that I gave my questions to I found out that people had a variety of favourite vidoes but I found out people liked the videos that stood out more and which were more abstract and had unique ideas to them. An example of a favourite video that I found out in my results was 'Down with the Trumpets' and the person stated that they really liked the fast movement and changes in the faces where it goes to a new background as it makes you want to watch it again and again and means that the song gets stuck in your head all day. Most people stated that they watched music weekly as they tend to watch them on the music channel to see which are in the top ten. Most of the people stated that they watched the music videos on youtube. There were a range of answers for what they thought made a music video. some people stated fast movement meant that it made you watch it and also people stated that they liked unique videos as it makes you remember them. People also said that they like videos with a twist which had ideas that no one has used yet. Out of most of the people they stated that their favourite genre of music was hip hop and others was indie. Most people stated that there favourite colours in a music video are bright colours and this could be because of the fact that it makes the video stand out and makes it eyecatching. There was a range of favourite artists/ bands and the answers that I got given were, Kanye West, Wretch 32, Trey Songz, Example, Ellie Goulding, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Jay Sean, Pixi Lott and N-Dubz which was a wide range of artists. Mostly people said that they went to a concert on average about once a year. People said that artists in music videos inspire them to create music and it also inspires them to listen to more of their songs, however a lot of people stated that they didn't really inspire them. Some people stated that they were more interested in the current bands because it is now and they like the new inspiration and the new type of music as well as others stated they like old music because it doesn't sound fake. Most people stated that they liked both old and new music.
