Magazine advert Analysis

I think that this advert for Beyonces album Sasha Fierce is really eye catching because the colours are really simple but the gold makes it stand out which works really well. The image used is really abstract and unusual but also uses the male gaze which I think works really well. The layout is really simple and there is only one piece of writing which is the name of the album which I think works really well. I also think that using the same writing as the album works well and I think I am going to use this idea for my poster. The genre is obvious through this image as the poster is very pristine which is what the pop genre is about, it's about looking good and this shows through the image as Beyonce uses the male gaze. The simple aspect works really well and I hope to make my magazine advert really simple as I think that it will work really well. The title stands out and the reader will instantly see the name of the album. Also the picture stands out and this means that people will be aware of the artist as she is well known. I really like how it is in black and white because it means that the gold stands out. I also really like that the layout and how simple this is as it makes it really effective. As it is so simple it makes you focus on the image and this is what I want my focus to be on. The image is really clear of what it is and in the video 'Single ladies' it uses the same style as this so people will know the style from the video and recognise it on this advert. The shot used is a mid shot as it shows all of her face and her shoulders, I think that this works really well because you can see her style as well as her face. I think that for a magazine advert to be successful it needs to have the right image that stands out. It also needs matching font from the album as this makes it their style and it wouldn't link together if it didn't use the same font. Overall the design is really effective and the font and the image make it stand out really well.
