Today

Today I filmed the last shots, I refilmed the keyboard shots but instead used a piano. This enabled me to film at different angles and it fit with the music better as it was a piano type music.

Plan for today

Today Holly is coming round to film the last shots of the video. I will hopefully get it all done today and today I will be filming the night time scenes so she will be coming around 5:00 as this is when it starts to get dark.

Feedback from class

From my feedback from my class I found out:

The lip syncing is a bit off
She is looking at the camera a lot
Some shots are a little quick for a slow song
Some locations are a bit random
The black and white shots are effective
Shots in the car aren’t framed as well as others
Shots on the grass work really well
Singer looks a bit underenthusiastic, needs to be more energetic even if it is a slow song

Feedback of Video so far

I have asked some of my friends what they think of the video so far, I showed Mr Ford and he said that he liked it and that it was a massive improvement from my draft. He said that I may need to refilm the Keyboard scene because he feels she may need to be looking up as it shows confidence and shows she is a proffesional player. He also said that the field scenes work really well as it fits in with the genre. He also said that I may need to add more of the phone bit because he thinks it is a little random.
Feedback
Kam - I think that you have some good shots but do need to improve on other shots and think about the setting more but otherwise I think that the field shots work the best.
Karishma - I really like the styling of the artist because I think that it works really well. I love the field scenes as it looks really good and I think that she looks really confident.
Holly - I absolutley love the car bits but it's a little confusing at some bits because you don't know where the car is. I think that you definately need to fill in the parts which you haven't filmed.
Jaiman - I think that maybe the video needs to be more understandable and also I feel think that the styling is really good of 'Skye' as she looks really believable as an artist.
Leanne - I think that the style of 'Skye' works really well as the makeup looks really good and she has really nice clothes. She is really good at lip syncing but I think that to improve it to make it better.
Hope - I really like the car scene as she looks really believable that she is upset. I also think that the hair and makeup works well and it fits in with the song.

First Editing of the Video

Filming

This was the location for the keyboard part of the video and this was what it looked like before and I had to remove my room around in order to get a better mise en scene and to make it look more simple.

This was what it looked like when I moved the sofa and the other things away I moved the keyboard around in order to get the possible angle and I started filming with this angle but after I felt it looked better at an angle.

This was the keyboard scene and this is an image of the scene. I had to make sure that I cleaned the keyboard before as it was quite dusty.

This was the car scene and I put Skye in the front of the car. I wanted the grass to show through the window of the passenger side because I felt that it would make it look more countrysideish so the car was positioned on my drive so it looked like the car was on the grass.

This was the field scene and I had Skye lying on the grass. I filmed in my garden as it meant that I could be more organised and it meant that I could refilm easily.

I filmed from different angles to make sure that I had a variety of shots and I filmed above Skye to get some  upside down shots.

Styling Skye

This was the first outfit that I put Skye in. I chose this outfit because it was very flowy and natural which is what I was Skye to be portrayed as. I added fake eyelashes to Skye as you couldn't really see her eyelashes in the filming. I added them as they were more seeable in the filming. I also curled her hair to make it more presentable and so it looked good in the video.

This was the second outfit for the car scene. I though that I would keep this much more casual as well as keeping it quite fashionable. I kep the top as flowing because I felt it brang the genre through the clothing. I added jewellery as it meant that it was less boring and I added dark purple lipstick as it meant her lips struck out and this kept with the idea of male gaze.

This was the last outfit that I put Skye in was a long dress as these are in fashion at the moment, however the dress wasn't too fitted so I added a waistbelt in order to show of her waist. Again the dress was quite flowing which meant that it was easy for Skye to move aroudn in.

Plan for tommorow

Holly will be coming round my house tomorrow and we will hopefully get most of the filming done. I am going to be filming the keyboard bits and also redo the grass bits as I feel the camera angles on them don't work too well. I am also going to be filming some parts in a car because I have been looking at videos to get inspiration and I feel that this works really well. I will be doing all of the night bits another day because Holly will be coming in the daytime.

I am going into Lutterworth with Holly to start filming today. I am hoping to get the indoor shots done and I will be looking at costumes with her aswell.

Plan for filming

I am hoping to film on Sunday and Monday. I have looked at the weather forecasts and found out that the weather looks good for Sunday and Monday and all of the other days it is raining. The weather is the same on both days so I hope for it to stay the same so the shots look the same. I will need to film all of the outside shots on these days as this ensures that the weather conditions will be similar in the video

Animatic

I have put together a animatic on Imovie on my mac where individual pictures were taken of each of the shots and then put into imovie and then set for the amount of seconds which I plan it to be in my video. It will help me to get an idea of what the video is going to look like and to see if I have enough shots and to see if they are long enough/ short enough. This won't be guaranteed to be exactly what my video is going to look like but it is going to be an idea of what I are going to do and if some shots don't work then we will try other ideas to try and make the video as good as I can.

Storyboard

I have created another storyboard for my final song. It is 65 shots and I have also cut the song down from just under 4 minutes to just over 2 minutes. 

Song decision

I have chosen a Taylor Swift song because I feel that they are of the same type of genre and I can use the same locations and the same sort of shots which I feel will be easy to replicate. I have chosen the song White Horse because it has slow music and it also uses a guitar.

Note to Examiner - Song change

I am going to be changing the song choice to one of a similar style of music. I have asked my teacher 'Miss Hammond' if this would be allowed and she feels if it works better for me then I will be allowed. I am going to choose a song of the same genre and style and keep the locations similar in order to make it easier for me. Another reason why I have decided to change the song is because I feel that the song has a manly voice and it doesn't fit in with my actress and I don't think she will feel comfortable to lip sync with a song that makes her look a bit masculine and therefore the video won't look good.

Colour scheme final

The colour scheme that I have gone for for my final idea is going to be Red, Black, Dark Grey and also Light Grey for the background. I have used these colours because I feel that they look really good together and I really like how the neutral tones bring out the red which makes it stand out. I will make various parts stand out by using Red on bits to stand out.

Note to examiner

I have changed the person who I am going to use for my music video. I will be using 'Holly Martin' this will be easier for me to film more as she is able to get lifts to mine. I have changed who I am using because the group I was in has been split up and I am now working by myself so I will change who I am going to use in order to make it easier for me.

Plan for filming

I am hoping to film on Saturday and redo all of my shots. I think that I will use the shots that I have done which don't incorporate Skye in them because I feel that they work well and I can manipulate them with effects and edit them to fit in with my video.

Plan For Photos

We are hoping to take photographs tonight of 'Skye'. I am hoping to get a proffesional camera from Leicester College in order to get the best possible photographs I can. For the photos I feel that we will need to make sure that 'Skye' is wearing a lot of makeup and is in the right costume. The images will need to be much stronger than the ones in my draft as I don't think they stood out as much as I hoped they would.

Feedback for Digipack and Poster

For the Digipack I got 3/10, I feel this was because the images aren't strong enough. To improve this we will need to make sure that 'Skye' has more makeup on and that she is also more made up i.e. costume. I was told that I wasn't allowed images of trees in the pictures on the album so therefore I wil need to rethink about the location and what poses I want Skye to be doing. I will be keeping to the simple theme throughout the album as I feel it works for the genre.
For the Magazine Poster I got 2/10, I feel that this is because again the image isn't strong enough. We are planning to take more images for the album cover and poster therefore it will hopefully improve it's mark. I will need to add a record label to the Poster in order to make it more realistic and to fit in with others.
